Place Louis Riel opened its doors in 1970 as the newest high rise apartment building on the Winnipeg skyline. Started as a Manitoba Centennial project it was officially declared open on June 2, 1970 by The Honorable Edward Schreyer, Premier of Manitoba, His Worship Stephen Juba, Mayor of Winnipeg, and Mr. J.E. Willis, Chairman of Metro. In the lobby of the hotel is a time capsule with a plaque to be opened in 2070 on Manitoba's bicentennial.
The evolution of Place Louis Riel to Place Louis Riel All-Suite Hotel started slowly with vacant apartments being rented for term relocations mostly for corporate and government employees. Seeing a need for a different type of accommodations the owners and management of Place Louis Riel changed it to an all-suite hotel. It was the first of it's kind in the city of Winnipeg and to this day it is still the only all-suite hotel of its kind in Winnipeg. Each suite provides an apartment sized suite with complete kitchen and tastefully appointed living facilities.
We aspire to provide each of our guests with the complete hotel services in a unique environment that treats each guest with kindness. Our special approach to our guests and staff has made us a favorite of many people throughout Manitoba, Canada, and Internationally.
