Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR)
Place Louis Riel is very honored to have achieved PAR Gold Level Achievement from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB). PAR provides businesses of all types the opportunity to assess how they participate in a growing Aboriginal economic sector and their communities as a whole. The PAR assessment framework is divided into four categories: Employment, Business Development, Individual Capacity, and Community Relations. Place Louis Riel All-Suite Hotel is a respected leader in the hotel industry, specializing in developing internal leadership through mentoring programs. Marina Kulba, General Manager, benchmarked standards for the privately owned Hotel in Human Resources Development, Economic Growth, and Community Tourism Development. In the early 1990’s, she actively recruited Aboriginal employees to work at the hotel giving them opportunities for career pathing and training. The Hotel’s role in the Aboriginal community has now expanded to include business-mentoring advice, youth programming support, and purchasing support to Aboriginal entrepreneurs. Place Louis Riel is a dedicated supporter of Aboriginal economic development and community initiatives that support the improvement of ‘quality of life’ along with youth leadership programming and education and training.
Professional Education and Training
Our management and staff are proud to work at Place Louis Riel. For the 10th consecutive year the Manitoba Tourism Education Council has recognized Place Louis Riel as a Manitoba Best Property. The only hotel in Manitoba to achieve this notoriety, Place Louis Riel remains committed to enhancing the quality of our service operation in order to serve you better. This recognition is awarded to an organization that has trained over half of its staff in the Manitoba Best Customer Service and Management Seminars.
In addition, Place Louis Riel follows national certification standards set by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council in those tourism occupations where standards are available; as a result we have received a recognition achievement award from the Manitoba Tourism Education Council for Professional Staff Certification for the 8th year in a row.
Place Louis Riel is also pleased to have achieved a three green leaf rating from the Green Leaf Eco-Rating Program. Place Louis Riel was evaluated by Terra Choice Environmental Services to assess our environmental programs & policies here at the Hotel. We are proud to be a part of this program and will continue to support environmentally responsible initiatives here at the PLR.
Place Louis Riel has branched out its training and staff development over the past ten years to include programs such as Dale Carnegie Leadership, Priority Management, Certificate in Management Accounting and continuing education courses through the University of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Guelph. We believe in growing a hotel operation that understands today's trends in business and are considered a leader in the hospitality industry.
